Excert from original Kawasaki bike review:
Kawasaki KX125/250
The new Green Meanies are meaner than ever...
These new generation Green Meanies look, feel and perform a whole lot differently from their predecessors.
They`re right up in the top class of competition and bristling with winning innovations.
The KX125A has a reed valve engine which develops more power than any other 125cc MX racer you can buy.
Not only is peak power superior, but there is better low and mid -range performance. It puts out 26.9 hp at 10,500rpm.
And with a total dry weight of only 86 kg (190 lbs.) it has an excellent power -to-weight ratio which is important in racing.
The very compact engine locks into a close-ratio 6-speed gearbox and bullet proof clutch which can take the roughest treatment.
The bigger and stronger KX250A also sports a radially finned cylinder head, high-technology Electro Fusion cylinder wall, and
electric CDI ignition. The reed valve engine differs with a new Booster Port and puts out an amazing 40hp at 8,000rpm.
But despite its high power the engine is surprisingly flexible and suitable for experienced racers and novices who can work
through the 5-speed gearbox to the front of the pack.
Both the machines have lightweight semi-double cradle frames made of strong chrome-molydbenum steel and massive
squared-section aluminium alloy swing arms. Front forks are mixed system coil spring, air-charged/oil-damped units with
leading axles and magnesium concial front hubs for easy and light handling.
Rear lay-down units are NO2 gas-filled shock absorbers with a free piston design and remote reservoirs.
Every detail about these machines have been thoroughly thought through to keep them light, functional and reliable.
And they`re also just about the best lookers in their bright lime green paint and gold trim. Not only do they go like great, they also look great winners!
